Brilliance In Simplicity

Wow, I've just had an amazing amount of fun playing a game I probably should have known about ages ago. That being Xbox Live Arcade's N . Normally I try not to waste my time on Xbox Live Arcade because real quality is sometimes hard to find. Disappointment is abundant in the obvious quick cash-in's Microsoft churns out, leaving very little to be found that's actually worth your precious Microsoft points.
But seriously, if you haven't played it, N is worth it. A simple premise, you're a stick figure ninja with a red head band, and you run and jump your way to exiting the stage. Each level is timed with the collection of golden orbs serving as boosters to increasing your time limit. But the real brilliance is in level design, especially in the user created levels.
N excels at it's entertainment factor, as you can jump ridiculously high, slide on walls, jump up walls, all in the name of reaching your goal. Not to mention the rocket's, bullets, and electric orbs you'll have to dodge on your way through each stage. The control couldn't be better transfered to an Xbox controller from the original's PC format, as you always have the feeling of being in complete control of your little ninja guy.
Not to mention, nothing is more fun than when you die, opposed to being frustrating like so many other games. Unbelievable entertainment is found when you blow up. As little ninja guy's body usually blasts apart dramatically blowing up any number of bombs around as his legs, arms and head fly about the current stage.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. If you have a spare 800 points, buy it, immediately. If you have a spare 1,600, buy the first Penny Arcade game, or N and Sonic 1&2. Either way it's the perfect use of Xbox Live Arcade, and real quality in gameplay. Something as I've said, is unfortunately hard to come across.
Did I mention you can create your own levels? Well you can, ninja across your own creations, fun.
